What happened to Tunepal.org old website?

I often used the online version of Tunepal.org where a a series of notes could be typed in and…voila, you were given a few options of what tune might contain that series of notes. This was very useful if you had a few notes in your head and wanted to find the rest of the tune. Having composed a number of tunes myself, I would also use this feature to double check them to see if they weren’t just remakes of existing tunes. The site now appears to be the same program that is loaded on my Android phone and doesn’t appear to be functional at this time. Optional recommendations welcome.

Re: What happened to Tunepal.org old website?

I don’t recall Tunepal.org having that ability. I know JC’s ABC Tune Finder does. Access that site with the following URL. Do not put “http://” in front of it:

trillian.mit.edu/~jc/cgi/abc/tunefind?P=DFAD+DGBG&find=FIND&m=title&W=wide&scale=0.70&limit=10&thresh=5&fmt=single&V=1&Tsel=tune&Nsel=0

The “DFAD DGBG” are just notes that I searched for, they aren’t relevant to much else but they will get you to the page where you can pose your query.

Re: What happened to Tunepal.org old website?

you can still use tunepal, just a little more awkward, before there was a java interface (I think it’s still there http://tunepal.org/tunepal/index.php )

the new way is to use the following link

https://tunepal.org/index.html#!/notesSearch/AAFAAADBAAFABEEEAAFAAABD

where the tune was

|A2FA A2dB|A2FA BEE2|A2FA A2Bd

so basically you need 15 notes and you need to transform all lower case to upper
and you need to change A2 to AA and remove all the bar lines

Re: What happened to Tunepal.org old website?

I’ll check out all options suggested. Thanks.

There’s also The Reverend’s ABC Tune Search page:
http://abctunesearch.com/
But it’s written in flash and flash will also be discontinued in the future, but for the moment it still works.

Re: What happened to Tunepal.org old website?

Yeah… Flash becomes officially dead at the end of this year, so I am in desperate need of rebuilding the site… It’s just a matter of time at this point. But at some point, I will get it running without flash…

Re: What happened to Tunepal.org old website?

Tunedb still works after all these years. It’s often helped me to find tunes from only a hazy idea of how they start:
