Re: Vincent Broderick Compositions

A noble effort, still, aren’t there 2 published tune books, book 1 and book 2, already pretty readily available? Can’t say if they are all inclusive but the first includes just about everything I’ve ever heard of and the second is full of most ly obscure, though lovely, tunes.

Re: Vincent Broderick Compositions

Thanks Kenny! I think it is a good idea if we still add the links to the tunes here just to have everything in the same page. We can try to have the full list. Thanks to that recording we can just copy and paste those tunes here.

Re: Vincent Broderick Compositions

Just to say thanks for these threads. Lots of great tunes I might not have considered.

I have read of a “Famine Suite” of tunes from Vincent are these included in the book , Turoe Stone?

I’m interested because it sounds like he was attempting to compose a descriptive piece for the flute. Something normally reserved for the fiddle and pipes. I have this vivid memory of when I met Seamus Tansey and he went on about the battering ram jig as if it were a descriptive piece of cottages being knocked down during the famine before he played it.

Can anyone post Brodericks famine suite here ?

I may have my wires crossed altogether on this one, so apologies in advance if that’s the case
