Pat Barton Compositions

Pat Barton Compositions

Hi everybody!

This is not really a discussion, it is a list of tunes: the list of compositions of Pat Barton.

I am planning to publish them all in this website but all of you are invited to transcribe any them. The rule is that two or three Irish tunes must be published for each composition of Pat Barton.

All the compositions are in this playlist in Pat’s YouTube channel:

For the moment, there are three done:

The Woodpecker (hornpipe)

Memories In My Shoes (jig)

A Wet Day In Westport (reel)

"The rule is that two or three Irish tunes must be published for each composition of Pat Barton."

Why? I thought Pat was Irish.

Re: Pat Barton Compositions

I suppose because he is not a renowned composer in Irish Traditional Music. Take into account that because he is a well known Irish player the rule is diminished for him. The general rule for all compositions is 5 Irish tunes.

Re: Pat Barton Compositions

I wonder what makes a composer "renowned"?

Re: Pat Barton Compositions

The "5 for 1" rule was supposed to apply when someone added his / her own original compositions to the database. It would only come in to effect if Pat Barton was to add a transcription himself. It would then be up to him to add 5 traditional transcriptions. That’s my interpretation, anyway.
