what are the best ITM CDs of 2020?
Uaine - Dawning of the Day. Bit hard to get hold of tho, can get it from brid harper herself.
John Doyle & Michael Mcgoldrick (duo cd)
The Reed that bends in the storm - mcgoldrick mccusker & doyle
Bayview - SMOK
TBH, not the strongest year otherwise. probably Covid to blame.
Oh, yes. Carlos/ Sweeney/ McCartin as well.
At least two of those may extend back into 2019, not that it really matters. Still relatively new.

“Best ITM CDs of 2020” - I posted Doyle & McGoldrick here 2 years ago, and Carlos / Sweeney / McCartin, came out in April 2019. The request was for ITM, so that would rule SMOK out too.
“Press And Draw” - Benny McCarthy

“Good Enough Music For Them Who Love It” - Nicolas Brown
PS - but especially :
“They Didn’t Come Home Until Morning”
by Francis O‘Connor [flute/fiddle], Áine O’ Connor [fiddle], Brian Mooney [bouzouki].

Fair do’s. Perhaps The Session needs a ‘year published’ function?
Here are five excellent albums released in 2020:
Shine by Caroline Keane

The Broken Pledge by The Bonny Men

Aughavinna by JB Samzun & Charles Monod

… and I should not have forgotten this one for whistle players :
https://thesession.org/recordings/7091
John and James Carty - “The Wavy Bow Collection”
https://thesession.org/recordings/7069
There’s some lovely harping on Janet Harbison’s album from this year, “By Strangford Water”.

Brian O’Leary just released a self composed album that’s quite good.

Another that is strictly 2019, but I only discovered it in 2020 is John Sheahan’s “Flirting Fiddles”: it will probably also fail Kenny’s definition of ITM as he plays in a variety of styles, but just so many good tunes, and a real joy to listen to.
My favourite is definitely Rowan Leslie’s ‘Escaping the Dawn’ (Rowan Leslie - fiddle, Graeme Armstrong - guitar, Andrew Waite - accordion, Dave Foley - bodhrán).

VANA by Ross Ainslie
Bayview by Project SMOK
Neither Irish, nor traditional. Would you like to try again ?
I would highly recommend Shine by Caroline Keane and Aughavinna by JB Samzun & Charles Monod, mentioned by Jeremy above.
