Joe Cooley, Kevin Keegan, and Seamus Cooley in Chicago, early 1960s

Apologies if this has already been shared here; I searched and did not find any earlier discussion about these recordings.

I know about the recordings at http://www.joecooleytapes.org (and had cassette copies for decades before those were released online). If you haven’t been there yet, do yourself a favor and visit that page too.

Now to the point of this post: Cathy Whitesides, with the assistance of WB Reid and Becky Deryckx, has recently shared some recordings of Joe Cooley, Kevin Keegan, and Seamus Cooley that were made in the 1960s in Chicago, before Joe and Kevin moved to San Francisco. Herewith:

Enjoy!

Hi Jumper!
That’s brilliant, thank you!

I play regularly with Mick Flanagan here in Tassie, he’s Joe’s nephew (his Mum being Joe’s sister)
He plays …. accordion 🙂
I’ve just sent the links to him

Keep safe and well
All the best

The Chicago recordings are also on https://joecooleytapes.org/ — if you scroll down you’ll see the links.

Cathy Whitesides got in touch with me a while back to ask if I’d host that site. I was more than happy to oblige. After more than two decades of keeping The Session online, I’m committed to long-term digital preservation online. 🙂

Thanks, Brian and Jeremy! Good to know that the Joe Cooley tapes site has a long-term home.
