Molloy and Galway

Molloy and Galway

I just found the whole of the programme from 1977 with Matt Molloy and James Galway, where the famous clip of The Bucks of Oranmore appears. Great fun and interesting to hear the contrast between Irish and classical flute playing.

Re: Molloy and Galway

Wow! I’ve watched the clip of Matt and Donal playing The Bucks while James watches at least a thousand times, but was not aware there was an entire episode hosted by Ciaran MacMathuna. Great stuff, and thank you for posting this!

Re: Molloy and Galway

One is a globally recognised knighted fluting super talent. The other is possibly the greatest flute player that has ever lived.

This little Island proudly produced them both.

Re: Molloy and Galway

Both fairly young back then. Matt appears quite reserved, whereas Galway is super-confident. I could have been rude, but I really do respect his talent….
Thanks for the link.

Re: Molloy and Galway

If I remember rightly the underlying tensions are fairly evident, but professionalism is maintained by all!
