Was just using thesession.org in Chrome on my mac and there was a button in the top right corner that gave me the option to download thesession app? I did and now it’s in my downloads, but only the home page works in the app. If I click on my username or any of the tabs, I just get a blank page. Anybody else noticed this?
I can’t seem to reproduce this.
Would anyone else who uses Chrome on Mac like to try? If you haven’t yet installed The Session as an app, you should see an icon in Chrome’s address bar when you’re on this site (next to the star icon for bookmarking). Clicking that icon installs The Session (I saw “installs”, but really it’s more like a bookmark, but a bookmark that opens as though it’s a self-contained app).
The same applies on mobile devices, by the way. On iPhones and iPads, if you tap the share icon when you visit The Session (that’s the square with an arrow coming out the top) then you can add The Session to your home screen. Tapping that shortcut will open The Session as though it’s a self-contained native app. (It even works offline!)
I did exactly as you said, Jeremy, using Chrome on my Windows 10 PC, and in the app, all tabs work OK.
@ Anonymous_Piper - not sure what the problem could be. Perhaps try re-installing the Chrome browser on the Mac?
Is this available for mobile phones as well? I did a search in the Apple app store, but didn’t find it. The first app that shows for me is a private messenger called Session, and I didn’t see it in subsequent apps.

Whimbrel, it is available for mobile phones but not from an app store. Instead, open The Session in a mobile browser and then add it to your home screen.
I’ve detailed the iOS instructions above. It should be similar for Android.
Once you’ve got The Session icon on your home screen, tapping it will open The Session as an app.

It downloaded for me but there’s a bug, Jeremy - there doesn’t seem to be a way to go back. So if I open up a discussion I can’t go back to the previous page without opening in a new window which takes me into Chrome anyway.
I use the app with chrome on my android with no problem.
Well, now the tabs seem to working for me. Weird, but it works now so that’s good. As someone else pointed out, there isn’t a way to go back. It would be cool if there was a button for that! Thanks all!

Anonymous_Piper, I was finally able to reproduce the initial issue you were having: it seems to happen when the app is *first* installed. Once it’s opened a second time, everything works okay. But that’s quite an annoying bug. I’ll see if I can figure out a way to file a bug for the Chrome team.

I downloaded the session app on Android.
At the beginning I have to enter an ID number of the session.
Where can I look it up? Email or the name at the session is unfortunately not possible.
