Tune error - trying to find it

Tune error - trying to find it

Hi everyone,

I found this clip of Mohsen Amini playing a couple of tunes with David Foley and Craig Irving, but am fairly sure the tunes have been documented wrong. The first tune says that’s it’s Phil Cunningham’s ‘The Man Who Shot the Windmill’, but none of the recordings seem to match with the Silly Wizard one or on The Session. Doubt it’s merely the different settings though:

If anyone does know the names of these tunes, let me know or it’s just my imagination 🙂

Re: Tune error - trying to find it

I spent an hour trying to figure out this puzzle on the name of the first tune, no luck. 🙁

Re: Tune error - trying to find it

What is posted here: https://thesession.org/tunes/6355
as The Man Who Shot The Windmill is, by my reckoning, actually Roarin’ Donald, the first tune in the Silly Wizard set here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcpsXjLyILs

If you listen to the second tune (after Maid Behind The Bar) here:
https://soundcloud.com/phil-cunningham/02-the-man-that-shot-the (from 1:50)

and compare to the second tune in the Silly Wizard YouTube clip (from 2:32) then I think that The Lowground have it correct and thesession.org entry is incorrectly named (the Folk Tune Finder entry is simply generated by a search engine).

Re: Tune error - trying to find it

Sloppy me.

So perhaps Phil Cunningham has mixed up the names of his own tunes for on his Soundcloud clip (linked to above) what he calls “The Man That Shot the windmill” is listed here as “A Glint Of Silver”.
Or perhaps the named the tunes the wrong way round on the Silly Wizard recording.

Re: Tune error - trying to find it

Fara’s recording is also of the tune in D, presumably taken from the original Silly Wizard recording.
