Slow Air to combine with O’Sullivan’s March

Slow Air to combine with O’Sullivan’s March

I like combining slow airs with faster tunes into a two-piece set (e.g. Aisling Gheal followed by O’Farrell’s Welcome to Limerick). I am now thinking that I would like to find an air to precede O’Sullivan’s March. Any suggestions please?
I will share whatever I end up with in the comments of the respective tunes.

In one of the Ceol Rince na hÉireann books there is actually a slow version of O’Sullivan’s March, possibly under the title "Basket of Eggs" (in Irish 🙂 ). It might do the job for you. A band I was in (in a former life) recorded the tune for a demo, beginning this track: https://soundcloud.com/jonesbach/phenigma-the-providence-set

How about another march, but played nice and slowly? Then up the pace slightly for O’Sullivan’s.
March of the Kings of Laois or Brian Boru’s March spring to mind

I like to play Jefferson’s March (The Gobby-O) with O’Sullivan’s March as both are in 6/8 time & the 2 keys are nice contrast.
