What tune name is this?

What tune name is this?

I have this compilation: https://thesession.org/recordings/7635 Musical Travel Ireland. There’s a set with the Carraoe Jig and another one called Tony Mc Mahon’s played by Kevin Crawford, James Cullinan and Maurice Griffin. I can’t find Tony Mc Mahon’s here. My ability to search on the ABCs is terrible. Does anyone know what the tune is called here? I know I’ve heard it elsewhere.

Re: What tune name is this?

“The Banshee” was written by Belfast flute player James McMahon, not Tony McMahon. It was me who posted the recording. I have it on a mini-disc, and will find it and have a listen. Watch this space. Only took a minute -
OK - it’s this :

Re: What tune name is this?

Aah, sorry – I was doing it from memory, and I only remembered the surname.

Re: What tune name is this?

Oh wow I found it by searching for the notes one string over on my fiddle. Of course I can’t pronounce it. Na Ceannabháin Bhána.

Re: What tune name is this?

Interestingly it looks like someone filled it in on the recording link I posted, but they replaced the original name of Tony MC Mahon’s which is the name that comes up when you play the CD.

Re: What tune name is this?

I found it an hour and a half before you and posted it above. I also updated the title in the listing, as the tune itself is a lot older than Tony McMahon, whom I don’t believe would have made any claim on it.
