Does anybody recognize this tune?

I heard this once quite a while ago, not even sure where but it seems to me it’s Irish (or at least Celtic). It’s either in 2/4 or 4/4 - assume 2/4 for our purposes here, because it sounds like a march to me - in dm or dorian. Let’s call the default note length 1/8 so I can post a fragment in abc here (and be aware that I may not be remembering it perfectly!). Here goes:

D D d>d | c A d2 | A>G F D | C D E<C |
D D d>d | c A d2 | A>G F A | D D |

There’s a second part, but I remember that even less than the first part. Anybody recognize this?

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Does anybody recognize this tune?

C’mon, NOBODY knows what this is? 🙁

Re: Does anybody recognize this tune?

It sounds like a distant cousin of a certain old Scottish strathspey, the name of which escapes me, but it has certainly evolved enough to warrant a different name, and could well be Irish.

Re: Does anybody recognize this tune?

Jeff, or anyone, if you could post it in notation I could check it out. I can’t "hear" ABC in my head. Or sight read it, either.

Re: Does anybody recognize this tune?

I’m hearing echos of something we play at a session. Give’s a week and I’ll try and get a name and/or some abc’s. If I’m right, the bit you have is a third part.

Re: Does anybody recognize this tune?

I don’t want to post it to the tunes section because it’s incomplete - is there a way to post it here as a GIF or PDF?

Re: Does anybody recognize this tune?

Okay, this is a long shot, but it definitely bears a bit of a resemblance to the third part of The Musical Priest. Check it out.
