Upcoming theater production in Washington DC featuring ITM
Several friends of mine are playing in an upcoming theater production and they asked me to spread the news here. Please note though that although ITM is featured prominently in this production, it is not ABOUT ITM. But it sounds interesting nonetheless, so if you’re in the area you might want to check it out.
Tickets are now available for the Washington, DC
production of John Morogiello’s hilarious comedy with
traditional Irish music: IRISH AUTHORS HELD HOSTAGE,
directed by Martin Blanco. A hit at the 2004 New York
Fringe Festival, IRISH AUTHORS HELD HOSTAGE returns to
Washington for only four weeks at the Warehouse
Theater Second Stage from March 23rd through April
15th. Reprising their roles from the New York
production are actors Terry Heffernan and Lori Boyd,
and Irish musicians Deborah Brower, Tina Eck, Matt
Shortridge and others.
This EXTREMELY CLEVER spoof not only manages to
amiably skewer a large number of Irish literary icons
(and a couple of unexpected others); it also
simultaneously provides RARE AND EFFECTIVE SATIRE on
international terrorism.—Brad Bradley, Curtain Up
NYTheatre calls IRISH AUTHORS HELD HOSTAGE "winning"
and "wittily written …a delicious romp of a play."
BroadwayWorld declares it "AS FUNNY AS A POST-MODERN
MARX BROTHERS ROUTINE. …LIGHT, FROTHY, AND
DELIRIOUSLY SILLY. THERE’S NO NEED TO BE VERY
FAMILIAR WITH THE AUTHORS OR THEIR WORK to find
something funny in John Morogiello’s script“-his sense
of the absurd is razor sharp, but never too high-brow
to be understood by the average theatregoer."
Performance times are Thursday through Saturday at
7:30 pm and Sunday matinees at 3:00. There will be a
special Spy Wednesday performance at 7:30 on April
12th. Seating is limited, so buy your tickets now at

tickets are general admission and cost $20. Group
rates are available for parties of ten or more. No
