Traditional music programme

The Brechin Arts Festival is a growing autumn festival now in its fifth year which takes place in and around the historic Angus town of Brechin. Building on the success of former years, the 2007 Festival will offer a wide range of art exhibitions and musical events, not only traditional music but also classical (Young-Choon Park, The London Piano Trio), contemporary jazz-classical fusion (Camerata Ritmata) and early music (The Art of Musick), plus much more.

Traditional and folk music events for this year include:

Saturday 15:

- ‘The Folk Train’: An open traditional-music session aboard the preserved Caledonian Railway
- The City of Brechin Arts Festival Junior Solo Piping and Drumming Championship
- An International Evening of Piping with Gary West, Ian Kinnear (Scotland), Jarlath Henderson (Ireland) and Miguel Angel Fraile (Spain)

Monday 17:
- Musical instrument making workshop
- Adam MacNaughtan supported by The Ryans and Friends

Thursday 20:

- Lauren MacColl and, from Spain, O’Carolan

Saturday 22:

- The Red Hot Chilli Pipers

Friday 28:

- Fair Witness and Fantoosh

Saturday 29:

- Karen Matheson with Donald Shaw, James Grant and Ewan Vernal
