Tune composition workshop

Carrickmacross CCÉ have teamed up with the Carrickmacross Arts Festival to host a traditional tune composition workshop. This will be held in the Workhouse, Shercock Road, Carrickmacross on Tuesday 8th August at 7pm. The workshop will be given by Adèle Commins & Daithí Kearney of DkIT. Adèle and Daithí are both musicologists who teach composition in DkIT’s music department and they have recently released a CD of their own compositions called A Louth Lilt. The workshop would suit both teens and adults and only costs €5. There will be an opportunity for those taking part to perform their newly composed tunes on Sunday 13th August at the Carrickmacross Arts Festival. To book a place contact Finian at 087 9785323.

Re: Tune composition workshop

Anyone interested in the tune composition workshop may also be interested in the rest of the Carrickmacross Arts Festival (http://www.carrickmacrossartsfestival.com/) which runs from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 August. Zoë Conway & John McIntyre play the Main Stage on Saturday at 7.15pm while Kern will headline the Living Room Stage the same evening at 9.45pm.

Zoë and John will also feature in a Q&A session, entitled Creative Conversations. This will take place before their Main Stage performance from 5pm to 5.45pm in the Workshop Tent. Finally on Sunday morning, on the Living Room Stage, there will be a slow session at 12.30pm which is open to all. This will be followed by Adèle Commins & Daithí Kearney with Tuesday’s tune composition workshop participants at 1.15pm as they showcase their new tunes.
