3rd Annual Celtic Calling Gathering

Charleston, West Virginias, ‘Celtic Calling’ is a celebration of Celtic arts, culture and traditions. It includes music, dance, education, athleticism, and family fun,with over 30 events.

The 3rd Annual event will take place on March 2nd-4th, 2018
Friends of Old Time Music and Dance, (FOOTMAD) present, Irelands:Téada , featuring Oisin Mac Diarmada, one of Irelands top fiddlers, step dancing from Samantha Harvey, wit, stories and song of the legendary Seamus Begley.

Celtic Rock at the Boulevard Tavern - The return of Pittsburgh’s Bastard Bearded Irishmen, who start a Southern Swing Tour, before heading out to play for a Cruise. The band mixes sing along, drinking songs, gypsy and celtic rythyms at a ferocious speed. If you like them, you will like The Charleston Rogues, our own Pogues cover band.
The Company Stores, will play their ‘Celtic Covers Set’ and tracks from their Nationally acclaimed 2nd Album.

Mountain Stage – incl. Seamus Egan Project, member of Solas, with special guest presenter Kathy Matea

Main Library Sunday Jam Series - Mountain Thyme. An all women group that have played regionally and abroad in their 30 year existence.

Taylor Books - Appalachian Celtic Consort, Scottish Smallpipe Concert, Dina Hornbaker

And More: Scottish Bagpipes, Plaid Clash, Gypsy Stars, Celtic Hymnsing

‘Music Sessions’ for those who enjoy playing together in ‘jams’, at The Copper Pint, Adelphia Sports Bar, Sam’s Uptown Café, where you will be able to enjoy celtic food specials all weekend.

Great Events: 5K Kilt Run/Walk, always popular, bagpipers will spur you on a challenging ‘Highland’ course.
New Event: Blarney Stone Liars Contest. Do you have the gift of the gab ? Come and tell a tall story.
‘New Event’: Beni Kedem Highlanders ‘Tartan Ball’ - Riverdance style Irish and Scottish Dancing and Music, a performance by the Highlanders Bagpipe Band, Parade of Tartans, Dinner.

Main Library Heritage Programs – Orkney Isles, and Irish Fairy Folk Lore, Spinning/ Weaving and Sheep Display

Dance: Irish and Scottish Dance Performance and Workshops

WV International Film Festival Underground Cinema : Irish Language Film, that was Irish nomination for Oscar - ‘Song of Granite’, 3 showings.
