2nd Aberdeen “FluteFling”

After a successful event last year, and a very successful "twin" event in Edinburgh earlier this year, we’re very pleased to be able to announce the date of the 2nd Aberdeen "FluteFling".
There will be one major difference this year in that - as we did in Edinburgh - we will be inviting whistle players [ "soprano" and "low" ] to join with the flute players for classes and sessions.
The programme for the weekend wil be similar to last year :

Friday evening [ 16th ] - "welcome session" - very informal.

Saturday 17th - we will divide students into 3 classes - 2 flute [ "beginner" and "intermediate" ] and 1 class for both types of whistle.
The 3 classes will receive tuition from all 3 of our tutors over the course of the day.
The tutors this year will be Gordon Turnbull [ "simple-system" flute ] and Sharon Creasey [ "Boehm-system" ],
and we are especially pleased to have obtained the services of Dougie Pincock as guest tutor / speaker.
Dougie’s main instrument is the Highland bagpipes, but he is an excellent player of flute and whistle, and for 7 years was a member of the "Battlefield Band". He has been the director of the "School for Excellence in Traditional Music", based in Plockton on the west coast of Scotland since 2000.

Saturday evening - session, with perhaps a few brief "performance" spots from the tutors.

Sunday - lunchtime / afternoon - "Farewell session".

Costs are the same as for last year : Full price £50 - concession price £40.

I will add the link for signing up when it has been created, which will be quite soon.

If anyone has any queries in advance, please contact me either here, or through a private message.

Hope to meet some of you there, Kenny

See you there Kenny!

Re: 2nd Aberdeen “FluteFling”

Thanks for opening this event up for us whistle players. I had a great time in Edinburgh and am looking forward to this one too! See you there! Heike

Re: 2nd Aberdeen “FluteFling”

Look forward to seeing you again, Heike. Please tell your other whistle players in Dundee that they are very welcome, although we will have to limit whistle places to 15 at an absolute maximum. Please book early !

Re: 2nd Aberdeen “FluteFling”

I should perhaps point out that whistle class numbers will be limited to a maximum of 15, and I already know of 7 local musicians who are intending to come. If you want to come to this weekend, please book early to avoid disappointment.

This new link from Gordon Turnbull is perhaps better : http://www.flutefling.co.uk/scottish-fl … kend-2018/
