International Uilleann Piping Day *mostly online this year*
International Uilleann Piping Day, a global celebration of the unique Irish pipes or ‘uilleann pipes’, will take place online and at several locations around the world on Saturday November 7.
This co-ordinated day of piping activity organised by Na Píobairí Uilleann, the association of uilleann pipers which benefits thousands of pipers worldwide, is aimed at raising awareness of this iconic Irish instrument.
Piping recitals, online classes, exhibitions, broadcasts and discussions explaining the instrument and how it is made will take place across different time zones and those interested in learning more about the uilleann pipes can attend an activity in your locality or tune into activities through the Facebook site http://www.facebook.com/uilleannpipingday set up specifically for this event.
Due to the current situation around Covid-19, Na Píobairí Uilleann will host their celebration online this year, including online classes, recitals and interviews. More info will be available closer to the date on the website https://pipers.ie or on the Facebook page.
