Whelan Master Session: The Conneely family (Bernadette, Kathleen, Michael, and Pauline)
John Whelan created this series of online master sessions as a way to listen, play and chat LIVE on Zoom with some of the best musicians in the business. This week’s guests will be the Conneely family (Bernadette, Kathleen, Michael, and Pauline).
The session will take place on Saturday, February 13, from 2-4pm Pacific, 5-7pm Eastern, or 10pm-midnight Ireland/England/Scotland.
Listeners and players of all levels and all instruments, from anywhere in the world, are welcome to join in. There is a $20 requested donation for attending the session.

The Conneely family are Bernadette, Kathleen, Michael and Pauline. We grew up in Bedford, England; our parents, Michael and Lizzie, were from counties Galway and Longford. We have great memories of being at home listening and dancing to recordings of Paddy Killoran, James Morrison, Mairtín Byrnes, Joe Burke, Andy McGann, Matt Molloy, Kathleen Collins and Liz Carroll… to name a few.
Dad played the fiddle, whistle and accordion, and he’s still playing today at 81. Mum’s family were also musical; she came from a long line of champion step dancers and her brother played the accordion. In our early-mid teens we had the pleasure and privilege of attending music classes with Brendan Mulkere, may he rest in peace.
Our mother Lizzie was the life and soul of our home and we are so grateful that Mum and Dad’s passion and love for the music was handed down to us. It was a great house to grow up in, full of music, dance, love and laughter!

The Zoom link and a list of tunes the artists are planning to draw from will be sent out Friday evening in (USA) Pacific time. Any last-minute sign-ups will receive the link and tune list about an hour before the session.
