Whelan Master Session w/ Derek Hickey, Josephine Marsh and Jimmy Keane

The Whelan Master Sessions are two hours of live tunes and chatter with some of the best traditional musicians in the business, all from the comfort of your own living room via Zoom. This week’s event is “The Squeeze Inn” (multiple puns intended!) with guests Josephine Marsh, Jimmy Keane and Derek Hickey, plus your host, the inimitable John Whelan.

John and his guests will take turns leading tunes while everyone else is muted, so you can play along, noodle away, or even do a little interpretive dance at your leisure. However you are very much welcome and invited to join in the chatter between tune sets, and it’s the free-flowing nature of that chat, and the event overall, that helps this feel like one of the more “session-like” encounters available online.

Listeners from anywhere in the world, and musicians of all levels on all instruments, are all very welcome. The session starts on Saturday, March 13, at 2pm Pacific / 5pm Eastern / 10pm Ireland/England/Scotland, and lasts for two hours.
