Steve Townsend

tunebook 8 tunes.

I play mandolin, bouzouki, and guitar. Have played a variety of music since age 11, and have always appreciated various forms of acoustic music. especially that rooted in folk traditions. Came to fiddle music from Dawg music, bluegrass and old time. Took up the mandolin under the influence of the David Grisman Rounder album. Had listened to the likes of John Renbourn, Bert Jansch and Martin Carthy back in the day. They led me more seriously into the rich and deep realm of tunes from the British Isles. Recently discovered Paul Anderson. Also quite fond of Alasdair Frazier, Aly Bain, Dougie MacLean, Liz Carroll and Martin Hayes. When I discovered the Skye Collection I found the world of sthrathspey. Not long afterward the music of J. Scott Skinner. The search continues.
