I am a member of the Celtic Arts Foundation in Mount Vernon, Washington, and a volunteer for the Highland Games and other projects. I play guitar in the Scottish sessions and a Roland Fr-1x digital accordion through headphones to sooth my soul. We are having an introduction to participating in Scottish and Irish sessions on April 27, 2016, at which I will represent guitar participation. I first came to The Session to learn about etiquette, modes, and tunes, a few years ago. We sometimes have six pipers and seven fiddlers, plus Karen E. on accordion, and sometimes an autoharp comes to play, so it is easy to mute the strums while learning a new tune and play freely when the volume is ripping. We play our "Tartan Top 20" at the start so learners can get used to the routines, then later the pipers and fiddlers give us something new to work on. We also host guest performers in our Littlefield Celtic Center for Cape Breton, Scottish and other world renowned performers. Check <celticarts.org> for more information.
