I live near Portland, Oregon, on the west coast of the USA. I started playing mandolin in June of 2015. After about a year I drifted away from bluegrassy tunes and toward Irish or “derivative-from-Irish-or-Celtic” tunes from greater North America. But in fact I am difficult to pin down -- if I like it and can find some ABC’s or tabs or dots, and it’s not too difficult, I’ll try to play it.

I have found thesession.org to be a great resource and I just recently discovered that there are benefits to being a member here. So here I am.

I am a 70 year old (as of July 2016) beginner with no illusions about “making it” as a professional musician. On the other hand I am having a great deal of fun and that’s all I need or hope for.
