I want to spread my wings a bit more as regards Celtic flute music in general after playing the shakuhachi and Native American flute the last 5 years or so. My heritage is primarily Scottish/Welsh/English and the music from these ancestral lands has always called to me, usually through classical and other genres. So, I’m now on a journey of discovery within the Celtic world. I do have some background in other instruments, such as brass (trumpet and tuba), guitar (classical and some rock/blues), piano, violin and cello. Currently , while learning the Welsh and Scottish Gaelic languages, I’m tackling traditional and improvisational Celtic music on two custom made flutes from Kolbe Bamboo flutes and also have a mixture of whistles from various companies.
