I have taught tin whistle to myself. Now I’m learning Irish flute. I’m 50 something, and I think that Irish flute is the instrument that I still can manage to learn.
I am from Vienna, Austria, and not exclusively interested in Irish folk, but in many folk traditions around the world. However I think that Irish music is a good point to start from. Especially when I won’t manage to join a brass band any more, and when I’m not familiar with the Serbian kolos and Turkish halays that our neighbours dance.
