Sean Thomas Gallagher
I’m from Kilcar, Donegal, a village steeped in trad, and the Irish language, when I was a child. I took fiddle lessons, tin whistles, sean nós songs, and joined the local pipe band. I left it behind me as a teenager and went on the road with a rock band and country band simultaneously, playing guitar and piano, and also doing a one man show singing pop classics, and have been doing the same for the past 12 years. It was 2018, when I was asked to be part of a pickup band for Sharon Shannon, that I had a longing to return to the old tunes from my childhood.
In the last year I’ve settled into residency work in Liverpool in Molly Malones Irish bar on Victoria street and I am starting to get back to my roots, relearning old tunes and instruments, and hosting a session every Tuesday at 7pm.
