Is Irish trad the most impenetrable trad?
I don’t play or really know anything about other types of trad, but I’m reflecting on a few times when folks who play other types of trad visited a session and how overwhelmed they seem.

Accompaniment is HARD
Hats off to you guys who can play good backing fluidly. I’m learning fiddle alongside bouzouki, and I find the fiddle a piece of cake in comparison as the tune just comes to me when I hear it.

I think it’s time for the Didgeridoo to make a come back. At one point you could not buy Trad CD without at least one track using one !

It is indeed a shorthand for G major seventh - a fairly common notation in jazz lead sheets. I tend to use it myself as it takes up less space.
