tunebook 1 tune.
I play bouzouki mainly as chordal accompaniment. When there is another chord player around I usually try to play something else because there is nothing more irritating to melody players then two clashing chord players who have different interpretations on what should be played. Then I’ll pick up the mandolin if I know the melody or the bodhran if I don’t. If there already is a bodhran player playing, I’ll listen. On rare occasions I’ll pick up the pennywhistle and play a slow air or a breton tune. My wife plays fiddle and teaches several students. I enjoy playing sessions when the dynamics are right. It only takes one person to ruin a good session. If there is no complimentary Guinness when that happens. There’s no reason to stay.
