Dia dhaoibh a chairde, greetings from America!
I live in Northern Virginia, to the west of Washington D.C., not far from the beautiful horse country of Loudoun County.
I am a beginner Irish language learner (slow but hopefully sure) and have participated in on-line sean-nós classes as well. I’m taking on-line concertina lessons through Caitlín Nic Gabhann’s IrishConcertinaLessons.com and am finding that learning this instrument (as well as sean-nós) by ear is a wonderful challenge in terms of not having a piano arrangement, choral score, hymnal, or lower brass score in front of me to depend on.
I just finished a lovely webinar with Orla McCague, who played a polka on the fiddle, and I came upon your website when I asked the Internet, "What is the definition of an Irish polka?", having grown up with the Eastern European form.
