tunebook 6 tunes.

Whistle, Scottish smallpipe, Bodhrán, Vocals

I also play a little anglo-concertina mainly for backing songs (rather than tune playing). I’ve been playing/singing semi-professionally for over 25 years. Aside from Celtic influences I also enjoy sea songs/shanty singing as well as English pub style singing. I regularly attend a couple of Celtic sessions on Cape Ann and occasionally make it to the weekly shanty sing in Gloucester, MA.

I’ve a number of original tunes and inadvertently raised some hackles here by innocently trying out the interface for submitting tunes with one of them. Quite frankly I figured it would scoot by and then gather digital dust. I know…silly me. Anyhow after retracting the one tune a kind session.org member gave the grand suggestion of putting my own tunes here. So here are a few of my offerings:

N:I wrote this tune while grieving the loss of my friend and fellow
N:musician, Tom Holder. Tom, a fiddle player from Plainfield
N:Massachusetts, was well known for his expertise at repairing fiddles as
N:well as playing them. It was always a delight to see him show up to a
N:session. He was a warm and kind as well as talented individual. Tom
N:lost his life on May 31, 1999 in an
N:accident involving his ultralight aircraft. His death was a loss keenly
N:felt in many circles in the Pioneer Valley
