I’m an American self taught tin whistle player. I visited Ireland in 1994 and heard the group Dervish in a pub in Dublin. I went out the next day intending to buy a bodhran but when I saw one up close I knew it would not fit in my suitcase. So, I bought a Clarke tin whistle in D, (much more portable) and a few tune books and have been playing ever since.
