Jim Langley was raised in Abilene, Texas, and went to granduate school in Ames, Iowa (neither place a hotbed of Irish music). He moved to the Washington, DC, area in 1983, where he finally was exposed to Irish music, which eventually became a passion. He started playing hammered dulcimer at age 43, the mandolin at age 47, and finally focused on the concertina at age 55. Being such a late bloomer, he has no pretence of ever wandering too far outside the neighborhood of mediocrity, but he has a lot of fun trying. Jim recently retired as a Senior Analyst at the Congressional Budget Office, U.S. Congress, with lots more time to practice. Jim has been a lurker on this site for a long while, and appreciates all the helpful discussions. This is a fantastic source of information!
