I was brought up to believe that the music of Ireland is the music of all of us that live there. Consequently politics, religion, bigotry, narrow-minds and places with dual names are a complete turn off, as are those who post ‘innocently mischevious’ questions to stir up tension. If we can’t play music together we can at least listen appreciatively. What’s the saying? You can run, spectate or permit. Let’s just discuss the music, without having to opinionate on who is allowed to play it, or with what, or the politics behind different names for the same tune, or including little throwaway comments against whichever colour or tradition you personally don’t like.
"Come all ye young people wherever you’re from
I don’t give a damn to what place you belong…”
Voted with my feet and left, 8.1.15. Too many pompous posters.
