This is another tune with a title inspired by my children. In this case because just before I wrote this, they came up with a game which involved setting up a tripwire, switching out all the lights, hiding in big cardboard boxes and then calling me into the room to fall into their man-trap.

The tune above was inspired by my son’s current fascination with magic tricks. He is just four years old at the time of writing, so he doesn’t notice how terrible my magic skills are and gets incredibly excited when things are made to disappear etc. Three-card Marney is a trick based on the classic street con with three cards, also known as Three-card Monte or Find the Lady. The tune was written on mandolin, but I actually find it sounds better and is easier to play on a guitar in standard tuning.
