Trained from an early age on the highland pipes and these days strangling a border pipe. At this time I am increasingly accepting the limits of the small pipes as a response to local conditions where as a whole people neither have the ear nor the repertoire for the borders. And, whilst I am aware of my limits as a player, I can’t be bothered to try and explain it further.
I’m not really interested in the vast majority of the players and makers of analogues of UK / Eire folk music, particularly the book clubs, but accept that I am merely a genre player too. I find this site a bit of a broken tooth. I can’t stop playing with it and should probably let it go.
