Expat Scot in California for a few decades. Taught myself mandola, mandolin, clawhammer banjo, tinwhistle. These days my set list is almost entirely Scots with a bias towards pipe marches, dance tunes and Gaelic airs. An awful dearth of Scots musicos around these parts. I do try to come back to Perthshire at least once a year to catch up with relatives, friends and pub sessions.

I wouldn’t mind getting some lessons at last to learn a few new tricks. The problem is finding a maestro who shares my musical tastes. I’m also keen on finding fuller settings of slower tunes: melody lines filled out with arpeggios, chords and twiddly bits. I have to make up my own and they leave much to be desired.
