Chris Hayward

Originally from Grimsby UK, I now work and live between Porthmadog N Wales and Kinsale W Cork Ireland. A violin/fiddle player since 1960, I was classically trained and lead two orchestras but the past 30 years have played Django/Gypsy Jazz/Eastern European music and now play much Irish music with guitarists/singers and in open sessions. I now also playMandolin and have a collection of “double horned” old Stroviolins with their aluminium horns that actually sound very well despite their strange appearance.
Played with guitarist Andy Mackenzie in “Gadjo Jazz” the past 18 years, prior to that played trad jazz with many of the well known Manchester bands. Harlem Hot Stompers, Keith/Marcia Pendlebury etc.
Historically have done 18 TV programmes for S4C N Wales and a Radio 4 play many years ago.
I also play Folk/Cajun/Blue Grass/Zydeo styles and can busk just about everything by ear.
Recently played Cork Jazz Festival the last 3 Years also the Chateuneuf De Fayou festival in Brittany twice, have also played the Interceltic Festival in Lorient Brittany with Anglesey band “Y (The) Moniars”.
Currently available for all types of gigs and can get good line ups together either in Ireland or Wales (or we can travel elsewhere) Call me on 07753 968809.
