My mainly Irish, but also English and German ancestors arrived in Australia between 1840 and 1880 and I’m now between 3 & 5 generations down depending which line you follow.

I used to be a leather trousered, fishnet singlet wearing new wave rocker with mullet hair and Strat & Marshall in my early 20’s but thankfully I grew up a little bit.

From guitar and bass I have merged into mandolin and tenor banjo. I also dabble in anything else I can get my hands on and have quite a diverse collection of toys like accordions, bodhrans, autoharps and such that I can’t quite play that well but occasionally I pick them up, enjoy myself immensely and annoy the neighbours.

I visited Ireland in 2011 for the first time and soaked up every session I heard. Too shy to join in but maybe next time.
