George Broderick

My name is George Broderick. I am Liverpool-Manx, i.e. of Manx Family but born and brought up in Liverpool. I play the mouth-organ and played for some twenty years with the Manx traditional Music Group "Bwoie Doal" (‘blind boy’, a nickname of Thomas Kermode (1825-1901), Bradda, Port Erin, one of the main Manx Music Tradition-bearers of the 19th century) and in other Manx (and Irish) Music sessions in the Isle of Man. I also sing Manx Gaelic traditional Songs. In 1973 I brought out an LP record "Arraneyn Beeal-Arrish Vannin" (‘Manx traditional songs’, sung by Manxman Brian Stowell - reissued as a CD by the Manx Heritage Foundation in 2010. I am an academic by profession and responsible for Celtic Studies at the University of Mannheim (and nearby University of Heidelberg) in Germany.
