Bill McMellon

I’m from Cheltenham, Glos., but now live in Chichester. I’ve been working at the fiddle since I was fifty (now 57) having started with a mandolin aged about 15, so my left hand’s not bad (shame about the bow). I’m not a terribly confident player, partly because of the effects of prostate cancer, but I gather from what people say that I might not be as bad as I think. Mostly I’ve been looking at Scots and Shetland tunes, but also Irish (I’ve found myself dreaming Tommy People’s no. 1 lately), and Morris tunes and the like. Billy Pigg is some-one I’m v. fond of: a wonderful musician. I believe that I’m a good singer.
