Frank Claudy

I play tin whistle and flute, grew up in Washington, D.C. where I first heard trad in the early 70s, one of the founders of the session at Ellen’s Irish Pub (aka The Admiral Benbow) on Connecticut Avenue and was part of Haggis, the house band there, later moved to Baltimore and played with The Wild Geese at The Gandy Dancer, the CatsEye and J. Patrick’s, also played regularly in the Emerald Isle Club Ceili Band, was a member of the Baltimore Ceili Band that won 1st in the senior division in the NY Fleadh in the early 90s (but we weren’t able to travel for the All Ireland). Taught flute or whistle or both at the Irish Arts Week in East Durham, NY for 9 years, brought out two solo CDs, The Thrush In the Straw in 1998 and The Pretty Blue Seagull in 2010, also made a cassette with the Wild Geese in 1992 The Salute To Baltimore, and played with Jesse Smith on his first recording The Hurricane.
