Hi, I’m from Glasgow, Scotland, living in Co. Mayo.

Hello there Folks. I started playing my Mothers Hohner button Accordian at 9 years of age. She played a lot of dance music for parties and house Dances and Weddings. Her brother also played the accordian they were both exceptional musicians.

My name’s Derek Williamson. Scots by birth. Play guitar, vocals and a little fiddle. I live and play around the sessions in South West Donegal, and in Glasgow when I’m back in Scotland.

Scoil Acla run a summer school as well as other events during the year on Achill Island Co. Mayo. The teaching of traditional Irish music,dance, song and the promotion of the Arts and our culture with a great emphasis on ‘Gaeilg Acla’ is at it’s core.

I’m new to Trad, having only picked up a concertina a few months ago. Loving it though.
