Excellent first album

Excellent first album and probably the best by the underrated Scottish outfit “The Easy Club” who were very innovative for their time. The title track is played all over the world as has been mistakenly called a traditional Irish tune in its time. It was, in fact, composed by Jim Sutherland.

Track 6 on “Youtube”…

They change parts 3 and 4 into the minor key, I think, by playing F-naturals instead of sharps. Not a practice recommended in the company of Highland pipers. Quite clever, but I prefer the original myself.

Very youthful in appearance.

“playing F-naturals instead of sharps”

Quite a fashionable trick among fiddlers for a while. Angus Grant Jnr once showed us how to do that with The Fairy Dance to “make it more interesting”….
