PJ Hill & Leo Brown: Traditional Music from the Glens of Antrim
PJ Hill and Leo Brown, are two of the foremost traditional musicians in North Antrim. PJ Hill is a teacher who lives near Carey, Ballycastle. Leo Brown is a retired forestry worker who lives at Greenans, way up at the top of Glenshesk, one of the famous Nine Glens of Antrim. They play regularly all around the Glens, where they are often joined by their friend Joe Martin from Cloughmills, on bodhran. Joe is a long-distance lorry drivers. Leo is also a prolific composer and arranger in the traditional style. His gift for adapting similar melodic motifs to different rhythms is well demonstrated in his own tunes which appear on this album. The musicians also show their versatility in group and solo playing.
The music on this CD is just like you would hear any session night in McCollam’s Bar, Cushendall or O’Connor’s in Ballycastle.

I spent a week and a half near and in Cunshendall taking a harp workshop with Janet Harbison several years back. I want to get this Cd just for sentimental reasons! It is gorgeous up there and it was my first trip to Ireland (Well, Northern Ireland).
