Star Above The Garter

Absolutely wonderful. Track 9, the Ballydesmond Polkas, includes all three known by that name. Track 13, the Knocknaboul polkas, includes the Knocknaboul as played by James Kelly on the Ring Sessions and which has been posted here. Tracks 3,10, and 19 are Denis Murphy playing alone, tracks 7 and 15 are Julia Clifford playing alone, and the rest of the album is just the two fiddles and they play so beautifully nothing else is needed.

Seanbhean Na GCartai/ Tom Billys - Denis Murphy

Help! This set of tunes is played by Denis Murphy on The Star Above the Garter album. I’m trying to find the abc TO Tom Billys but there are too many and not enough ABCs etc. Does anyone know this tune by another name?

I absolutely love this album, but I can’t get over the album art. It looks like a 12 year old’s impression of a tapas bar in Spain! I hate it. “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” has never been truer though, this is one of my favourite fiddling albums.

Re: The Star Above The Garter

This is one of my favorite albums AND I think top contender for both best album cover in ITM as well as most divide album cover!

Re: The Star Above The Garter

Apple Music just released a version that has been really nicely cleaned up from the cd recording!
