Does anyone have some details about this one ?
It is not listed on BOTL site.
A bootleg ?

This seems rather to be a “scrambled” version (minus one track) of “Midwinter live” dated 2007 on BOTL’s site …

Not a bootleg …

“A celebration in music and song of some of the vital Celtic traditions of midwinter from the Atlantic lands of Northern Europe”.

I think Midwinter Night’s Dream is the US title for the CD originally released - in the UK at least – as The Day Dawn (Lough Records – Lough 006CD) (1994).

The band are listed as: Aly Bain (fiddle); Cathal McConnell (flute, whistles, song); Dave Richardson (concertina, mandoline, cittern, accordion) ; and Christy O’Leary (uillean pipes, whistles, song). Guest musicians: Chris Newman (guitar); Henning Sommerro (piano); and Tim O’Leary (guitar, bouzouki, viola).

When I saw BOTL at the first Speyfest in 1996, Chris Newman was part of the band and I thought it was a really dynamic line-up with him in it. Unfortunately, he and Christy then left the band shortly afterwards in acrimonious circumstances.

I like to come back to this album around this time of year – a lovely mixture of Christmas and midwinter tunes and songs.
