Uncovered

Whereas the lack of linkages to tunes posted in the tunes database here would tend to suggest that this is an album of original tunes, the fact is that all but two of the tunes on “Uncovered” are traditional. They’ve been handed down to Walsh by his grandparents and were at one stage reasonably common tunes in Drogheda and Skibereen. We often think of the music as evolving only very slowly; however the fact that these tunes are nowadays so rare is testimony to the fact that it can undergo significant change in just a few generations!

Released on Ossian, OSSCD134. See http://www.ossian.ie

I don’t normally like flute albums but i think this one is brilliant.

Tunes

Does anyone know any of the ABCs for these tunes??

NfldWhistler keep transcribing the tunes from the Garry Walsh CD “Uncovered”. It’s got some great tunes found nowhere else.
