These are the only recordings ever made of Johnny Doran’s inspirational piping. He was playing a Leo Rowsome set in the key of D. Traveler and piper, his music was recorded in 1947 onto 9 acetate discs by ’The Irish Folkore Commission. This was just a week before a wall collapsed onto his small caravan (North America=trailer) killing him. Paddy Keenan and Davey Spillane are just two of many well known and talented pipers who credit Johnny Doran as a major influence on their playing.
