Two comments

This is a single cassette not ‘re-mastered’, raw, the first release by ‘Comhairle Bhéaloideas Éireann’, CBÉ 001. For a lot more hard work, remastering, see the ‘comments’ for this following entry, a clearer result is:

“The Master Pipers, Volume 1: Johnny Doran”

Johnny Doran - - -

These are the only recordings ever made of Johnny Doran’s inspirational piping. He was playing a Leo Rowsome set in the key of D. Traveler and piper, his music was recorded in 1947 onto 9 acetate discs by ’The Irish Folkore Commission. This was just a week before a wall collapsed onto his small caravan (North America=trailer) killing him. Paddy Keenan and Davey Spillane are just two of many well known and talented pipers who credit Johnny Doran as a major influence on their playing.
