Some recognition of Dagger Gordon is long overdue on this site.
Dagger was one of the first musicians to really utilise the mandolin and it’s family of instruments in Scottish traditional music, although it had been used before. He lives in Easter Ross where his “day job” is farming but still plays regularly in local bands (and elsewhere on demand) and is a great encouragement to younger players. You’ll see regular contributions from him on Mandolin Cafe.
This is an excellent album with some classic Scottish tunes as well as some of Dagger’s own fine compositions.
I’ll submit more recordings from Dagger, in due course.
