Music From Appalachia to Canada - a New CD by Ken Kolodner and friends.

Ken performs on hammered dulcimer and fiddle and is joined by celtic musicians: Laura Risk, fiddle ( whom he tours with );Elke Baker, fiddle;Robin Bullock, guitar, mandolin;Paddy League, guitar. Ken’s music presented here is from Appalachia to the North country of Canada. You will hear Celtic music, some original compositions, (some are fast becoming known as popular "session" tunes such as Journey to the Heartland by ken Kolodner); traditional music of Quebec (called Quebecois or French Canadian). This new CD is the Maggie’s Music label and more info and audio samples of everyt track can be heard at www. maggies music.com.. The CD has some beautiful waltzes such as : Waltz of My Dreams from a 1966 recording of the great Quebec fiddler Gérard "Ti-Noir" Joyal (1921-1989). Originally recorded by Quebec accordionist Alfred Montmarquette in 1928, Born in New York in 1871, Montmarquette moved to Montreal in his early fifties and was very influential in Quebecois music.Marche du Mont. Saint Louis is another tune Ken learned via Nova Scotian born flutist Chris Norman, whom he tours with in the band HELICON ( with Robin Bullock).
