Gael Linn’s 2005 re-release of the 1976 original, http://www.gaellinn.com CEFCD 046. O Suilleabhain’s treatments of Irish traditional music on clavichord, harpsichord, piano, pedal organ and mini-moog retain their ability to divide trad afficionados.
A wonderful album- hadn’t thought of it in years. I remember trying to learn “Jockey at the Fair” on my newly bought fiddle. In retrospect, its a transitional album- the use of non trad instruments right after O’Raida died by one of his pupils if I recall my album notes correctly.
As an aside, when my daughter went to UCC as an exchange student, she had a Michael’s son as one of her flat mates. He was playing keyboards as well. Fruit don’t fall far from the tree in my view.
